SHINee’s Minho and Onew show their support for TVXQ

The controversy surrounding JYJ Junsu’s tweets to TVXQ’s Yunho has drawn in many opinions from both the outside and from within the music industry itself. But with TVXQ’s official comeback stage on KBS’s “Music Bank” yesterday, there has been an additional influx of celebrity support for the boys.
Recently, SHINee’s Minho and Onew expressed their support for their senior labelmates after watching their return on stage. Both Minho and Onew posted photos they took with Changmin onto SHINee’s me2day account, which were attached with a bright message from both the boys.
Minho posted, “Everyone~ Did you see our TVXQ hyung’s first broadcast? It was really moving… TVXQ’s Yunho hyung~ and Changmin hyung that always are hard working! Even watching it again, I think they are so cool and really incredible. I’ll furthermore try hard and work hard like the hyungs, so keep watching over me. Let’s cheer them on together!^^
Onew posted, “None other than TVXQ!!! Our Yunho hyung~ and Changmin hyung that I love, who never let us down!!! You know it’s the beginning right~~^^? Jang Geun Suk greeted by thousands of fans in China and Thailand

Actor Jang Geun Suk began his promotions in Asia this year, starting with China on January 2nd.
The actor made a visit to the country for a CF shoot and other scheduled activities, and was greeted by hundreds of fans holding placards and gifts at the airport.
After completing his schedules, he left for Thailand on the 5th, and was greeted by hundreds of fans once more.  Police were forced to make an appearance on the scene in order to handle the crowd.
He’ll be holding a press conference with various Thai press on the 8th.

Music Core performances from January 8th

MBC’s “Music Core” has returned once again with another fun and exciting show!
On today’s show, TVXQ, SECRET, INFINITE, and JOO made their comebacks while Dal Shabet and Piggy Dolls debuted.
Other performers for the January 8th episode include GD&TOP, IU, T-ara, SISTAR, Orange Caramel, Soul Harmony, F1rst, Maeng Yoona, Tim, December, $unny Side Chang, and Can.

Supernova unveils MV preview for “The Day of Separation”

SBS’s new medical series, “Sign“, enlisted the cameo appearances of Hallyu idol group Supernova for its first three episodes. But that’s not all.
After recording the song, “The Day of Separation” for the drama’s OST, the boys also participated in its MV shoot. Fans of both the drama and the group will see clips from the drama, as well as production cuts from the recording studio.

Shin Min Ah rejects offer to be cast in “Full House 2″

Shin Min Ah’s agency has denied recent rumors of her being cast as the female lead of “Full House 2.”
A representative stated through MyDaily, “It is true that we received an offer, but we rejected on the spot. We’re now taken aback because this talk has revived.
On the same day, Kim Jong Hahk Productions stated, “No cast and scenarios have been confirmed yet, and we’re only at the planning stage. We’re not sure how this rumor was brought up.
Meanwhile, Big Bang’s T.O.P and Song Joong Gi were also rumored to be candidates for the drama.

Which Artists' Album Sold the Best in 2010?

Today the list of the best-selling Korean albums of 2010 have been released. Artists such as SHINee, SNSD and Super Junior are listed on it. Check out if your favourite artist is on the list!
SNSD tops the list of the female and all artists with 312,000 album sales in 2010. Following SNSD is Super Junior with a sale number of 263,000. On the 3rd spot is SHINee with 155,000 album sales.

Top Ten Korean Boy Bands in Peru

One of the most important Peruvian’s news station recently made a poll to pick the top ten Korean bands in the country.
The Latin American country is really close with the Korean entertainment due to the fact that many dramas like Goong, Stairway to Heaven, My Lovely Sam Soon, Winter Sonata, and more are broadcasted there.
This time the news station revealed at their website the final list of the top ten Korean boy bands.
SHINee was the band that got the first place followed by SS501, JYJ, Super Junior and MBLAQ.
The list includes bands that debuted a long time ago, as well as new ones.

allkpop, Jay Park & Super Junior win Mashable Awards in Las Vegas!

To reveal the winners of the 4th Annual Mashable Awards, Mashable did it big and held an Awards Gala at the Cirque du Soleil Zumanity this evening in Las Vegas. As you may recall, a number of kpop authorities were nominated for various categories in December. Among the winners include the Best Web Video Award going to Jay Park, the Must Follow Personality Award to Super Junior and the Must Follow Brand Award to none other than allkpop!
We’re blown away by the support that all of you guys have shown us through voting for allkpop on Twitter and Facebook. Last year, allkpop won Mashable’s “Best Breaking News Site” Award and, considering the fact that Mashable is one of the world’s largest platforms for social media-related news and updates, it’s extremely exciting for us to be honored with these recognitions two years in a row. Again, we can’t thank all of our readers enough – you’re the ones that made this possible!

Siwon Chosen as the Handsomest Male Star born in the year of the Rabbit

With the start of the year of the rabbit, there is a wind of change blowing in the entertainment industry.  Male stars born in 1987 are having remarkable careers in all fields of entertainment from TV, gayo to movies. 

Male stars born in the year of rabbit including Lee Minho, Lee Seunggi, Jang Geun Suk, Choi Siwon, Joowon and TOP have especially mesmerized Korean women with their good looks and unique charms.  Is it because people born in the year of rabbit have abundance of sensibility and artistic talents?  They are fearlessly working in various fields including acting and singing.

Because 2011 is the year of rabbit, we ranked from number one to three on the handsome male stars born in the year of rabbit who will receive the spotlight this year.  The ranking was completed with the help of JK Plastic Surgery which has specialty plastic surgeons.
Out of all the prominent handsome male stars born in the year of the rabbit, surgeons chose Super Junior's member Choi Siwon as the handsomest.  

He debuted in 2005 as a part of idol group Super Junior and enjoyed overwhelming popularity with the ht songs like Sorry Sorry and Miinah.  He's currently solidifying his status as an actor by appearing in SBS drama Oh! My Lady and Athena: Goddess of War.    

Chief surgeon of JK Plastic Surgery Kwon Soonhong said, "His cool eyes, high nose and lips match well together with his small face.  He has a western look and his face has manly characteristics yet also has soft contours."  

Also,Chief Surgeon Paik Hyewon said, "Choi Siwon has sharp eyes.  But his eyes are big and he has fat under his eyes that he looks playful.

TVXQ thanks BoA, SNSD, and SHINee in their “Thanks To”

TVXQ finally unveiled their first album in two years and three months on January 5th, and they left meaningful messages of gratitude towards their fellow SM artists for their constant support during their public absence.
Yunho wrote, “Kangta hyung and Min Jong hyung, who always kindly teaches me even the minor things, the know-it-all but humane BoA, the Super Junior members who own every kind of charm, the vocally talented CSJH The Grace members, the most moral men, TRAX, cute mascots SNSD, pretty Ara and Yeon Hee, awesome actor Jong Yoon Hyung, SHINee, who are no different to my younger brothers, maknae f(x), thank you all for giving me strength and supporting me.”
Changmin wrote, “To our company who sent us applauses of encouragement, and to all of our awesome, pretty, talented and kind seniors and juniors, thank you all! The most handsome man in the universe, Lee Jinki ^^ Fishing King Kim Jong Hyun ^^ Key Kibum or KeyBum, Choi Minho, who overflows with richness like a son from a rich middle-east oil company family ^^, Prince Taemin, who owns everything a man needs, and all the other hoobaes, thank you.”
Meanwhile, TVXQ are set to make their official comeback on KBS Music Bank on January 7th.

Hyun Bin releases “That Man” from Part 5 of “Secret Garden” OST

Actor Hyun Bin’s own version of the hit “That Man” has been released as the title track of part five of the “Secret Garden” OST through various online music sites on January 7th.
“That Man” is the male version of Baek Ji Young’s “That Woman.”  Hyun Bin was said to have shown extra passion for the song despite his busy filming schedule.  The song itself features Hyun Bin’s deep voice, giving the song a different, more unique feel.
Other songs such as BeBe Mignon’s “One Woman” and “Here I Am” will be included in the OST as well.
CEO Jung Seung Woo of the OST’s production company, Arch DN, commented, “Hyun Bin has been juggling his packed schedule, even getting IV treatments to keep up with the pace of it all.  We couldn’t demand that he take part in the recording, so the song’s release has been delayed longer than planned.  Still, he did his best in the recording for his fans despite being in a condition of fatigue.”
The OST’s concert held on January 6th also sold out every single seat within five minutes, demonstrating the immense popularity the drama’s OST has been enjoying.

Rain’s fatherly charms and fondness for daughters

Netizens on an online community recently put together a compilation video of Rain being a “player” for his supposed daughter obsession which has since become a viral topic on the internet.
During Rain’s appearance on SBS “Strong Heart” during his “Love Song” promotional days, the singer expressed, “I want to live in a house full of daughters so that I can take my pretty daughters to kindergarten every day and buy them nice food.”
In the video, you can see Rain meeting a friend and their child son in the hallway of a broadcasting building, greeting them happily thinking the child was a daughter. In another scene, Rain is seen tightly hugging a little girl at one of his fan meetings, displaying his father-like charisma. The singer also once made a guest appearance on a radio program where he showed his enthusiasm to be father, to the point where he even talked about what kind of fashion his daughter would have.
Fans who watched the video commented, ,”Rain will be a prosperous dad”, “Why am I becoming jealous that he’s obsessive over daughters”, and “I want to become that daughter.”
Meanwhile, Rain recently wrapped up his concert in December 2010 and will endure a shorter break to speed up the filming of his movie, “The Red Muffler.”

“You’re Beautiful” drama was the #1 Korean drama in Japan

It was recently revealed that the drama “You’re Beautiful” was ranked the #1 Hallyu drama in DVD sales in Japan, and results from the data analysis also showed that Korean dramas are still receiving immense popularity overseas.
According to Japan’s stock company CCC (Culture Convenience Club), data from ‘Tsutaya‘, a DVD and CD sales and rental company, data was gathered from January to December of 2010 to rank the most popular DVDs and CDs. In total for 2010, the data showed that more than 693,740,000 copies were sold or rented out for 2010.
Furthermore, analyzed results showed that there were a total of 2,500 rental subscribers and online memberships for each store, with each person renting out 27.7 units in those 12 months.
Additionally, the number of Hallyu dramas bought or rented out increased by 20% from the previous year, with a total of 108,480,000 copies sold or rented. The popular drama “You’re Beautiful” was also ranked the #1 Korean drama in Japan of 2010.

Details on Shindong’s role in “All My Love” revealed

We previously reported that Super Junior’s Shindong will be making a cameo appearance on MBC’s daily sitcom,All My Love“, and additional details on his role were revealed today.
Producers of the sitcom spoke with Newsen on January 5th and stated, “Shindong will be appearing as a blind date for ‘Hwang Geum Ji’ (played by Son Gain). Filming took place in a fun environment, so fans can look forward to a great finished product.”
Shindong’s cameo will be seen on the 43rd and 44th episode, scheduled for broadcast on January 19th and 20th.

Peruvian netizens choose SHINee as best K-pop band of 2010

Recently, SHINee's official Japanese site opened. Immediately after opening,we reported that its server crashed due to over 20,000 visitors. Like many other K-pop groups, SHINee is very popular on an international level, winning the hearts of listeners from countries all of the world. Following this pattern, Peruvian netizens chose SHINee as the best K-pop band of 2010.

Online users of a Peruvian news source known as Radio Programas del Peru (RPP) voted for the best K-pop band. The votes were recently tallied, and the top ten bands were SHINee, SS501, JYJ, Super Junior, MBLAQ, CN Blue, FT Island, 2PM, B2ST, and Big Bang.

SHINee received 42,970 points, surpassing 2nd place SS501 by over 5,000 points. JYJ received 24,500 points, qualifying the group for 3rd place. Super Junior (23,710 points) and MBLAQ (with 22,260 points) rounded out the top five.

SHINee's score was more than double that of CN Blue, who received 19,400 points. FT Island (18,760 points), 2PM (18,280 points), B2ST (9,990 points), and Big Bang (9,620 points) completed the top ten K-pop bands.

Was SHINee's Lucifer plagiarized?

In the later half of 2010, SHINee came back with their 2nd full album with the title song Lucifer. Lucifer was well loved and won many awards, and fans were delighted to have the boys' second official album.

However, fans found out that a Serbian singer Jelena Karleusa has just released a song called "Muskarac koji mrzi zene", which sounds exactly like SHINee's Lucifer. Many are enraged and are accusing her of plagiarism. But as SM Entertainment has not made any comments about it, many fans are still unsure if this is actual plagiarism or if she has permission to use the melody.

Super junior schedule on January 2011

Super Junior-K.R.Y to hold their first Korean concert


Super Junior’s ballad unit, Super Junior-K.R.Y will be holding their first Korean concert, “SUPER JUNIOR-K.R.Y THE 1ST CONCERT,” for three days from February 11th through the 13th.
Consisting of members Kyuhyun, Ryeowook, and Yesung, Super Junior-K.R.Y was the first ballad sub-unit for the group. They’ve also featured in a variety of OST albums.
SM Entertainment officials revealed, “Super Junior-K.R.Y completed concerts in Japan and Taiwan last year.  A lot of Korean fans have been wanting to see their concert, and so we’ve decided to listen to those requests.  We’re anticipating a hot response.”
Tickets will go on sale starting January 13th through G-Market.
